Daniel In The Lions' Den
Daniel In The Lions' Den

In Daniel chapter 6, we read about the king's helper, Daniel. Daniel loved God and obeyed God's words. Some men did not like Daniel, because he worshipped God. They asked the king to make a new law. The new law would punish anyone who would pray to God by throwing them in the lions' den. The men knew that Daniel prayed to God and that he would be thrown in the lions' den.

Daniel heard about this rule, but he was not going to let it stop him from praying. Three times a day Daniel went to his room and prayed. The dad men found Daniel praying and went and told the king.

The king liked Daniel and did not want to throw him into the lion's den but he had already made the rule and he had to follow through with it. Daniel was thrown into the lion's den. The king said, "May your God rescue you!" All night long the king could not eat or sleep. The next morning the king ran to the lion's den. He called to Daniel, "Daniel, has your God been able to save you from the lions?"

Daniel answered, "King, My God sent his angel to shut the mouths of the lions. The have not hurt me!" The king was overjoyed and ordered Daniel to be lifted out of the lion's den. Daniel had not been hurt because he trusted in God.

In this story, we learn that if we trust in God, He will always help us. The Bible says that we have God on our

side, no one can defeat us (Romans 8:31). God will always take care of us if we obey Him.

We also lean from this story that we should always obey God, even when people don't want us to. In Acts 5:29, the Bible says, "we ought to obey God rather than men".

The King saw Daniel's example and how that God took care of him. It made the king believe in God. By setting a good example to your family and friends, you can make them believe in God too. Jesus said that we should let our lights shine so that others will see it and believe in God (Matthew 5:16).
