I was in prison, and ye came unto me... Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matt. 25:36,40 Prison Report

By Larry West

Several years ago, there were over 3000 different religious groups each claiming to be the true religion, or at least a part of it. Today, no telling how many there are! There is one which is relatively new to me and I thought I would share some information about it with you.

This newer group is called The Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research or, for brevity's sake, IDMR. It was founded by a man by the name of Dr. (?) Henry Clifford KinIcy, a former minister in the church of God. In 1931 he claimed to have a Divine Vision and Revelation in Springfield, Ohio which, he says, is supported and agrees with the visions of Moses and the Prophets and the Apostles, and is confirmed by the Holy Bible. Their material states that it is a non-profit religious and scientific research organization. It was incorporated in the State of Ohio in 1931, and eventually in the State of California in 1958. To give you a better idea what this group is all about, I will now quote from their materials:

“The Divine Vision incorporated the existence of a Divine Archetypal Pattern which is the creator, himself, which is spoken of in the Holy Bible in Exodus 25:8-9 & 40, and Hebrews 8:5, and is described in detail by the writings of Moses regarding the Tabernacle which was seen by Moses in Mt. Sinai and later built in the Wilderness of Sinai. It is this simple, three-fold Pattern which is the key to the understanding of the Godhead, the physical body and its make-up and function, the universe and its origin and ultimate dissolution, and the whole purpose of the creator from beginning to end. It is the knowledge and understanding of the operation of this Divine Pattern in all of its modes and manifestations that transforms one's thinking from its present, carnal state and ensures him eternal life.”

This group has branch schools in twenty-six states of the United States, and in Canada, Mexico and Jamaica. One of their charts shows the tabernacle along side the body of a man. Numbers and lines connect various parts of the human body to the various elements within

the tabernacle and declares that “man is made in the image of Elohim by the pattern of the tabernacle. The bone structure of a man represents pillars, bars & boards in the tabernacle.”

Incidentally, they also have their own Bible called “Holy Name Bible.” They boast that this is an improvement over other versions simply because it makes use of data which has been known for a long time but which has been confined to footnotes, commentaries, encyclopedias, and technical publications. They claim, “The pagan elements today found in Christianity have made it appear falsely similar to other religions and have thus cast stumbling blocks before those who recognize this heathenism for what it is. By correcting the known distortions and purging the pseudo-Christian beliefs which have resulted, doctrinal integrity and consistency can be restored.” Due to space limitation I will not provide all of the reasons why they made changes in the Bible itself. Another prominent feature of this group is their insistence upon the use of the words: Elohim for God; and Yahshua for Jesus. It is claimed that God will not hear the prayers of anyone who does not use these very names.

We have about 10 inmates at Folsom State Prison who listen to those who teach these things week after week. I have dealt with their teachings from a scriptural viewpoint in answering questions which have arisen about them. I thought it might be fun and interesting to allow those of you who read about this to provide some responses.
1. Have you ever heard of this group before now?
2. How would you go about showing, from the
    scriptures, their errors?
3. Do you know anyone who is a part of this group?
4. Have you ever seen, or heard of, the Holy Name
    Bible?
Send your responses to me in care of the Vacaville church of Christ. I look forward to hearing from you.
