salvation, they must obey the gospel of Christ. The writer of Hebrews said, “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:8-9). Our eternal salvation is tied to our obedient heart. Hence, we must trust and obey God’s beautiful plan of salvation!

The heart, or the facts, of the gospel is the death of Christ for our sins, His burial and resurrection. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 we are told, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” That which Paul delivered or preached unto the church at Corinth was the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Through the cross and the shed blood we have the hope of eternal life. Our Lord’s sacrifice is good news to those who are lost.

In Romans 6:17 we read, “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.” Those who desire eternal life will obey that form or pattern of salvation.

But, what is the pattern that we must obey? Baptism! We are baptized into the likeness of Christ’s death. We are buried with Him by baptism. And we are raised in the likeness of His resurrection. In Romans 6:3-4 we read, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Furthermore, Paul states in verse 6, “...our old man is cricified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”

been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone” (Dan. 5:2-4).

In response God sent a hand to write a message on a wall. No one understood the writing. Belshazzar's wife knew of Daniel and recommended that he be brought in. The prophet spoke boldly to the king saying, “..the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified...” (Dan. 5:17-28).

How can a nation continue when it denies, rejects and blasphemes its Creator? How are political and religious liberals making so much head-way? They get into positions of influence. They are primarily concerned about their agenda rather than making money. Oh yes, they make money, but they find a profession that promotes their agenda and then make money at it. They get into government, they become lawyers and judges, they anchor the news, they teach in universities, etc. Do you see the point?

What do we do and what do we encourage our children to do? Political and religious liberals advocate their agenda one part at a time patiently. There was the Scopes Monkey trial in the 1920s, the ban on school prayer in the 1960s and maybe a ban on the Pledge of Allegiance in 2003 and other things.

What shall we do?

and be lost (I Cor. 10:12-13; Gal. 5:4; Heb. 6:4-6).
2. One teaches that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues and spiritual gifts are for us today, while another teaches that miraculous measures of the Holy Spirit have ceased (I Cor. 13:8-10).
3. One teaches that we must meet and worship on Saturday, while another teaches that we must meet and worship on Sunday (Acts 20:7; Acts 2; Rev 1:9-10; Heb. 10:1-10).

All of the above cannot be truth. But by study, and the exercise of our discernment between good and evil, we can determine what is Truth and what is error (Heb. 5:12, 14).
