o you remember when it was quite common for some brethren to be seen taking "one last drag" on a cigarette before entering the building for Bible classes? And then, between Bible classes and the hour of worship, many of these same ones would congregate right outside the entrance door for "another smoke?" But as time passed, through some straight-forward teaching (and with the help of the tobacco/cancer connection given wide public hearing), most brethren learned better and we don't see that sort of thing being done like we once did. Most folks do better when they are taught better! And the majority of brethren have finally learned that smoking is indeed an unhealthy, obnoxious habit that is wrong, inappropriate, and improper for a Christian at any time, and is especially repugnant when engaged in around the church building where/when God's people assemble to worship Him. It just isn't fitting.

But replacing one bad habit with another is to do no better......

The "trend" in our society presently is toward "casual dress" and "act as you please" conduct. Unthinkingly, I believe brethren have allowed "the times" in which we live to impact us to a greater extent than we realize, and this has gradually eroded the sense of propriety that once seemed to prevail when Christians gathered for worship.
