Hannah's Prayer to God

Matthew 4:1-11

After Jesus was baptized by John, He went into the wilderness so that Satan could tempt him. Jesus did not eat anything for forty days. At the end of the forty days, Jesus was very hungry.

Satan said to Jesus, "If you are the Son of God, then turn these stones to bread." He wanted Jesus to do things Satan’s way instead of God’s way. But Jesus told him that God says, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."

Then, Satan took Jesus to the top of the temple. He told Jesus, "If you are the Son of God, jump down from the temple and let God send angels to save you." The devil wanted Jesus to force God to save Him. Jesus answered, "It is written, you shall not tempt the Lord your God."

Finally, Satan brought Jesus to a high mountain and showed him all of the kingdoms of the world. He said to Jesus, "I will give you all of these things if you will worship me." But Jesus told him, "Go away

Satan, for it is written, you shall worship God only." Then, the devil left Jesus and the angels came and helped Him.

This story teaches us many lessons. First, we learn that when we are tempted by the devil, we should always do what God’s Word says. The Bible says in James 1:22, that we must be doers of the Word of God and not just hearers. God’s Word will help us do what is right when we are tempted. This story also teaches us that we must only worship and serve God. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 that we must seek the kingdom of God first, before everything else. We also learn from this story that God will always take care of us when we are faithful to Him.
