The Prophet Isaiah Tells About Jesus
The Bible

The New Testament tells us that a long time ago, God spoke to His people through the prophets (Hebrews 1:1). Prophets were men who would remind the people of God’s law. Sometimes, they told the people things that God had spoken to them about. The prophets also told people about things that would happen in the future.

One of God’s prophets was named Isaiah. The things that he told the children of Israel are written down in the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament. In Isaiah chapter 53, the prophet told the people about Jesus. This prophesy was given over 700 years before Jesus was born.

Isaiah said that Jesus would be rejected by the people. He said that Jesus would be beaten and hurt by them. Jesus would be given a trial, but it would not be a fair trial. The prophet said that Jesus would not try to defend Himself and that He would be killed by the people. Isaiah knew that Jesus would die with wicked men and would be buried with the rich. Most of all, he said that Jesus would suffer and die for the sins of the people, because the people were not obeying the word of God.

Jesus said that we must read the prophets, because they tell about Jesus and prove that He is the Son of God (John 5:39). There are a lot of people who claim to be the Son of God. We know that Jesus is God’s Son because He is the only one who did what the prophets said He would do.

The Ethiopian man in Acts 8 was reading Isaiah chapter 53 when Philip preached Jesus to him. After that, the man said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (v.37).

The Bible says that faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). We must read our Bibles to learn about Jesus and to know how He wants us to live.
