EVIDENCE OF THE
BIBLE’S INSPIRATION

It is said that the majority of people live in the abstract with conflicting views. In one sense he will say he will not eat this food, or he will not do this because it is against the law. In the realm of God a person might say I believe God exists, I hope He exists, or I think He exists. Why not say I know He exists? Are we asking people to believe in something that we think MIGHT be in existence? If we cannot know for certain that God exists, we are in a lot of trouble on other points.

WOULD EXPECT HIM TO
COMMUNICATE WITH
HIS CREATION.

God has revealed Himself from heaven (Rom.1:18). Why is it revealed from heaven? Because of the case of the Gentiles who hindered it. God revealed Himself through the things that were made (vv.20-21). What is known of God is seen (Ps.19:1; Heb.3:4). B.C. Goodpasture wrote: “The nature and contents of the Bible are such that the rank and file of its readers in all generations have recognized God as its author. Man would not have written such a book, if he could; and could not, if he would. It moves on a superhuman plane in design, in nature, and in teaching. It caters not to worldly desire and ambition. It condemns much which men in the flesh highly prize, and commends much which they despise. Its thoughts are not the thoughts of men” (1970).

Man has the ability to know God. Let’s face it, we are different than the animals, or at least should be. Animals do not and cannot know God. Man is the only creature made in the likeness of God (intelligence, emotion, will-power). Animals are only here for man (2 Pet.2:12). Man’s emotional ability is surpassing. His love for his family and fellowman is wonderful, but his love for God surpasses them all. Animals react from instinct or motive from without.

Man can reason, and then reach a conclusion. Man has a moral code which animals do not. It is said, “No tribe of human beings has ever been found to be void of a moral code.”

KNOWLEDGE OF GOD IS ESSENTIAL TO
KNOWLEDGE OF SELF.

There are certain questions we must ask ourselves. Why is man here? If evolution is correct, where’s the point? There is no point. Life is meaningless. Why are the animals here? Just for food? Why can’t we communicate with them? Why aren’t animals grieved when they kill another animal or human? The Bible answers these questions.

Until man recognizes God is the creator, life for him will seem a joke and confusing. Societies that forget God only bring greed; greed breeds wars; and wars bring disease and destruction. Man is here to praise God (Isa.43:21), and to seek the welfare of his fellowman (Mt.22:39). Without this knowledge man will never attain the greatest good out of life. Life will seem void and is void for millions because they think the grave is it.

Knowledge of God is essential to acceptable worship. Consider the ignorant worship of the men of Athens (Acts 17:22ff.) or the Samaritans (Jn.4:22-24). They had no knowledge of God. Knowledge of God is also essential to godliness. We could do some serious camping here. We are in a whole lot of hurt due to sin (Jer.5:25; Prov.13:15). Godliness is living like God (1 Pet.1:15-16). People will be destroyed because of their lack of godly knowledge (Hos.4:6). Don’t refuse the knowledge of God (Rom.1:28; 2 Thess.2:10-12).

Roy Lanier commented, “No one can really love that which is unknown, so if you know very little about God it follows that you cannot love God very much. The more you learn about God, the more you can love Him.
