Scientists Say:
"The Universe Was Designed
For Life!"

One clear point is made throughout the Bible: God is the Creator of the Universe, the Earth, man, the animal kingdom and the birds, fish and grasses. He created it all. But there is also another related point made in the Bible: The creation of God is meant for man's good use. I do not claim to know how everything is to be used by man, but we are just now learning about the peanut, the soy bean and the elements of life on this planet. I may never know the purposes of every creature or thing, but again and again we are discovering that the world is made for man's use. The prophet wrote, "For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited.' I am the Lord; and there is none else," (Isaiah 45:18). Note that it is stated that the Earth was formed "to be inhabited." It was not formed by an explosion or an accident, but was deliberately and intentionally made so that man could make his temporary dwelling thereon.

If the previous statements are so, and if Isaiah was right when he said the Earth was created for man's use, it naturally follows that the Earth must be compatible with human life. Therein lies a most baffling fact for those who deny the creation by Jehovah. They must be able to explain the Earth's having the precise qualities and elements necessary for man's habitation. How is it that there is just the right amount of oxygen; just the right amount of top-soil for growing the needed foods; the right amount and strength of gravity to keep man from falling off the planet? The answer that comes from atheism is "coincidence." It is "just a coincidence" that the Earth is suitable for human population. It is "just a coincidence" that

the earth is poised on its polar axis at a tilt of 23 degrees. It is very well known that men of science will not accept similar explanations of phenomena, that is, except in the area of origins.

Note the words of Dr. Robert E. D. Clark on this subject: "We can be certain that when we compare the Earth with the other planets, all the favours of fortune seem to have gone into its making. Situated at the right distance from the sun; built to just the right size; its radioactive elements concentrated in its crust; uniquely provided with a satellite large enough to brighten the night and control the rhythm of nature; rotating in such a way as to produce day and night and seasonal variations in temperature; largely covered with water which keeps the temperature more constant still; provided with continents and ocean basins and with just about the right amount of water to fill them; provided with an atmosphere of the right kind; with an ocean containing salt which enables clouds and rain to form in the atmosphere. What more can we ask?"

How can honest, rational people examine the facts, yet conclude the world came out of coincidence? To these observations, add those found in Parade Magazine on June 21, 1998. Dr. David Levy asks: "Have you ever thought about how truly amazing life is? It thrives everywhere on Earth, so most of us rarely consider how fragile it is---how, if a few conditions were not just right, life could not exist at all." Nobel Prize winner George Wald is then quoted as saying the "Universe was designed for life." Levy continues: "In Wald’s Universe, the miracle of life is based on only four simple conditions, the absence of any one of which would have made life absolutely impossible. 1. Ice floats, 2. The night sky is dark, 3. Protons and electrons have absolutely identical charges, and 4. We have the right kind of Sun."
