In numbers chapter 20, the Bible tells the story of Moses and water from the rock. The children of Israel were very thirsty and so were their animals. But, they did not have any water to drink. The people complained to Moses, because they did not have any water. Moses was told by God to go to a certain rock. God told him to stand in front of the rock with his staff and then speak to the rock. God told Moses that he would give them water from the rock. Moses took his rod and he called the children of Israel to the rock that God told him about. Moses told the people, “You rebels, must we give you water from this rock?” Then, Moses hit the rock with his staff and water came from it. God was not happy with Moses, because he hit the rock instead of speaking to it like God told him. God said to Moses, “Because you did not believe me and did not honor me to the children of Israel, you shall not go into the promised land.” Many years later, the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River and went to the promised land. But, Moses did not go with them and God made him die in the wilderness, because he disobeyed God and did not honor Him to the people. This story teaches us that God wants us to obey Him. Jesus said that not everyone who believes in Him will be saved, but those who also obey the Heavenly Father will be saved (Matthew 7:21-23). The Bible also says |
that Jesus will only save those who obey Him (Hebrews 5:9). This story also teaches us that we must honor God. To honor God means to respect Him. It also means to show other people that you love and respect God by obeying Him. “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amem” (1 Timothy 1:7). Cross Word Puzzle Across: Down:
