"I Don't See Anything Wrong With It." The above statement was made recently in television interviews by several different people, on different occasions, discussing different issues. The most recent of these statements was made by Donald Green, the owner of the Mid Evil Times Bar in Pulaski, Tennessee concerning his club having topless or nude dancers. Before I saw Mr. Green's interview I saw numerous citizens of Alabama making this same statement on television interviews concerning the lottery. Several weeks previous to the lottery issue I witnessed an interview of a man from out west concerning homosexual marriages and adoptions. Can you guess what his assessment of the issue was? “I don’t see anything wrong with it.” When I hear statements like this concerning "adult oriented businesses" (which is just a politically correct way of saying pornography), gambling, the acceptance of homosexuality, abortion, or any other similar topic, I have mixed emotions. First, I am upset and outraged, but also I understand. You see, I believe them when they say “I don't see anything wrong with it”, because they don’t. Satan always seeks to blind us so that we don't see these things for what they really are, SIN (I Tim. 4:2; Rom. 1:28). Most people do not participate in activities that violate their moral convictions, so Satan sugarcoats sin to make it sound less, well, sinful! Homosexuality becomes an alternate lifestyle or something you're born as, not something you choose to be. Abortion becomes a woman's body, a woman's choice, not murder. Alcoholism and drug addictions become diseases caused by your genetic make up, not the result of your decision to use these substances. Adultery becomes a “harmless affair, a fling”, instead of the home destroying sin it truly is. We've got to wake up America! SIN is still SIN and it is still wrong. It matters not if we see anything wrong with it or not. All that matters is, has God said it was wrong? Do we not realize the implications of saying that if I don't see anything wrong with it then it must be all right? Rapists don’t see anything wrong with what they do. Child molesters don’t see anything wrong with what they do. Abusive husbands (or wives, eht) don’t see anything wrong with what they do. Drug dealers don’t see anything wrong with what they do. Where will it end? This type of “logic” will lead to anyone doing anything they want at anytime and it will be OK. Nothing will be wrong anymore. |
When I hear someone say, “I don't see anything wrong with it”, I think of the time of the Judges when “every man did that which was right in his own eyes” (Judg. 21:25). Sound familiar? If legislating what is right and wrong were left up to man, the only thing that would be wrong would be to say something is wrong. God is the ONLY ONE who determines if something is sinful or acceptable. Remember, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Pro. 14:12). Jeremiah declared, “I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his" (Jer. 10:23).
