A Word of Encouragement

How do I relate to others? Does my behavior promote unity and peace? See the plea and directions Paul gave in this regard in these verses!

Philippians 2:1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like–minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (NKJV)

A good indication of the challenge these things represent to my selfish human spirit is how Paul begins by citing the great spiritual blessings I am partaking of as one saved by the crucifixion of my Lord! So because of His love and blessings I am urged to search for and find the path to peace, to having the same mind and love for others! He shows me that all this must come from a deliberate humbling of my will! My model for this is nothing less than what Jesus Christ did in first leaving His rightful place in heaven as God to become a human being, and then as a human being deliberately sacrificing Himself on the cruel cross of Calvary! So today I will humble myself, and find the path to being at peace with others because of all that Jesus did and continues to do for me, and so that by God’s grace I can go home one day to be with Him for eternity in heaven!

Peace

Joy

Love

In Galatians 5:22, the Bible declares, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance...". These are the qualities that we continually strive for at the Vacaville church of Christ as we worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We would like to thank you for visiting with us and pray that your visit with us is both inspirational and educational. If we can be of service to you in any way, please let us know.

If you are looking for a new church home, we would like you to prayerfully consider the Vacaville church of Christ. We are not a denomination or a man made institution, but we are simply Christians following the New Testament as our guide for life and godliness.

Jesus said in John 4:23, "...the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth." As you worship with us, you will find that we do so according to the New Testament to include: Singing (Eph 5:19), Praying (1 Tim 2:1-2), Observing the Lord's Supper (Acts 20:7), Giving (1 Cor 16:1-2), and Preaching (Acts 2:42).

Jesus also said in John 13:35, "By This shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." No doubt you will find that the Vacaville church of Christ is a very loving and caring group of people.

We would like to invite you to get to know us better, and the Lord Jesus through us.
