In 1Samuel chapter 1, there was a woman named Hannah. She did not have any children, and that made her sad. She went to offer a sacrifice with her family to God. After the sacrifice, Hannah began to cry and she prayed to God. In her prayer, Hannah promised God that if He would give her a baby boy, she would devote the child to God. She promised that the boy would become a holy servant of God. Eli was the high priest at the temple. He saw Hannah praying, but he did not hear her words. He though that something was wrong. Hannah told Eli that she was very sad and that she was praying to God. Eli told her to go in peace and God would answer her prayer. Later, Hannah had a baby, and she named him Samuel, because she asked for the baby from God. When the boy was old enough, Hannah took Samuel to Eli, the priest. Samuel stayed with Eli and served God. |
This story teaches us many lessons. First, we learn that we should pray to God for the things that we need and want. Jesus said that if we pray to God, He will answer our prayers (Matthew 21:22). The Bible also tells us that we should pray all the time (1Thessalonians 5:17). This story also teaches us that we must keep our promises to God. If we promise to follow Jesus, we must keep that promise. We must keep following Jesus to go to Heaven (John 8:12). Do you pray to God for the things that you need? The Bible says that God keeps His promises (2 Peter 3:9). We should keep our promises also (James 1:22). Cross Word Puzzle Across: Down:
