This short article addresses a rare commodity in this world. If more fathers would be godly (i.e. have the character of God) there would be less problems today. In God’s design of the family, the father is to be the head of that family. Such a position requires serious responsibilities. Children are killing children. What is going on? Why is such happening? It begins with the parents, especially the father. He has been entrusted with other lives (souls)! Proverbs 22:6 clearly states, "Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is older he will not depart from it." A father must TRAIN his children. He must train his child "IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO." This of course refers to the Will of the Father of all fathers, God Himself. God requires that a father "provide for his own" family (1 Timothy 5:8). Provide what? An earthly father would do good to examine the attitude of the Heavenly Father and follow His example. Consider the following: The Heavenly Father provides for His children’s physical needs (ie., food, clothing, shelter, protection) and so earthly fathers must provide for the physical needs of their families. The Heavenly Father provides our emotional needs (ie., love/affection, understanding, trust, an attentive ear); the earthly fathers have a responsibility to provide the same. The Heavenly Father provides disciplinary and social needs (ie., respect for others, manners, respect for authority, and responsibility). In like manner, it is the duty of earthly fathers to provide and teach such to their children. Finally, our Heavenly Father provides for our spiritual needs. Instruction on morality and the Bible, faithfulness to God, and setting a good example are spiritual needs that earthly fathers must also provide their families. Godly homes require godly fathers. Men must act like men and take the lead God has given them. Since fathers are husbands of the children’s mother, he must show respect and honor to her (Ephesians |
5:23,25,28,29,33). Such relationships would cause the divorce rate to go down drastically, children would benefit greatly by godly home led by godly fathers and society would be better off. God help men see the need to be led by His Word. Gary Anderson Daddy had a little boy
