"Porn" is one of those dirty four letter words, and yet it has become a serious plague, destroying millions of souls. The word "pornography" comes from the Greek words porni (prostitute) and graphein (to write). This work of the devil is promoted by the ungodly via books, magazines, "art" (paintings, statues, etc.), movies, tv, music, telephone, and now computers. In 1996, Americans spent more than $8 billion on "porn" related materials. They are getting "filthy" rich while feeding like a roaring lion on weak minds.

Pornography is not new. Ancient history is full of this evil. The Greeks and Romans with their naked statues, plays, songs and writings were well aware of the power of "porn." Ancient text and art is full of erotic paintings and suggestive stories. Ovid, a Roman poet, wrote Art of Love, a treatise on seduction. The apostle Paul declared, "For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret" (Eph 5:12). Yet, now that which was once done in secret has been thrust into the open and is glorified as "free speech" by a wicked generation. Indeed, the days of Rome are upon us once again!

There are some who see nothing wrong with pornography and they claim that it does not hurt anyone. However, pornography is extremely destructive. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." The eternal consequences for this, as with any sin, is everlasting damnation (Rom 6:23; Rev 21:8). Furthermore, the sin never stops with just the mind. The Bible affirms in James 1:14-15, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin." These other sins include: homosexuality, child molestation, beastiality, rape, incest, and such like. "Porn" exploits both the male and the female. It flaunts marriage and family. It demoralizes the divine nature of sex. It defiles and pollutes the mind and the body. It destroys nations!
